Position Summary: The Logistics Technician is responsible for managing the receipt, storage, and movement of materials and shipments throughout production areas, ensuring accurate inventory tracking, and supporting efficient supply chain operations. This includes handling receiving processes, monitoring shortages, overages, and damaged items, while utilizing warehouse management systems (WMS) and adhering to industry best practices for inventory control and safety.

Essential Job Functions and Duties:  

  • Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials, ensuring compliance with shipping and receiving protocols.
  • Inspect and verify incoming materials against packing slips, Bills of Lading, and purchase orders, documenting any discrepancies in accordance with receiving procedures. 
  • Manage receiving processes, including accurate logging of receipts, quality checks, and coordination with suppliers to resolve issues such as incorrect deliveries or damaged products.
  • Move materials to and from loading docks, delivery vehicles, storage areas, and manufacturing zones using appropriate equipment. 
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently. 
  • Track inventory levels, identifying and reporting shortages, overages, and damages to maintain supply chain integrity. 
  • Maintain in-process inventory at work centers by delivering, opening, and staging materials and supplies as needed. 
  • Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying items listed on production orders or as requested by Production Supervisors. 
  • Maintain accurate inventory through proper identification, labeling, placement in stock, and recording of locations using WMS tools. 
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel for data analysis, reporting, and inventory tracking. 
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously in dynamic environments.
  • Perform cycle counts, audits, and reconciliations to ensure inventory accuracy and compliance with industry standards such as FIFO (First In, First Out) and lean inventory principles. 
  • Look up part locations, print part labels, use scanners or RFID devices to transfer parts between locations, and generate/update reports in the WMS (experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is highly preferred). 
  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., procurement, production, and quality control) to locate missing packages, correct deliveries, and replace damaged products. 
  • Comply with Driverge’s Core Values (LOVE IT) and all relevant industry regulations, including OSHA safety standards and hazardous materials handling guidelines.
  • Adhere to warehouse safety rules, conduct pre-use inspections on material handling equipment, and perform minor operator repairs as needed. 
  • Remove packaging, trash, and waste from production and material areas to maintain a clean and organized workspace. 
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimize logistics processes and reduce waste. 
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications and Entrance Requirements:   

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Previous Receiving experience. Automotive parts experience is a plus. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including moderate Excel skills for data entry, and inventory reporting.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with inventory management best practices, such as cycle counting, stock rotation, and quality assurance.
  • Able to pass written and driving multi-forklift assessments on site.
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license.  
  • Candidates must successfully complete criminal and motor vehicle background checks and preemployment drug screening.  

Physical Demands/Work Environment: 

  • Able to function capably in a production environment using standard equipment.
  • Must be able to lift in upwards of 50 pounds. Frequently lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to complete production-related physical activities (walking, standing, talking, hearing, pushing, reaching, seeing, stooping/crouching, smelling, depth perception, identifying colors) as needed.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain productivity standards.
  • Must be able to work inside and outside throughout the year, in varied weather conditions.
  • Participate in required company safety programs, training, and PPE guidelines, including adherence to OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
