Position Summary: The Materials Analyst is responsible for auditing and ensuring the accuracy of Work Orders, Bills of Materials (BOMs), inventory levels, and KANBAN systems to support efficient production and supply chain operations. This role serves as a key liaison between warehouse, production, and engineering teams, identifying discrepancies, driving corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement in material flow and inventory integrity.

Essential Job Functions and Duties:
- Audit Work Orders, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and inventory records for accuracy, identifying variances, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Perform regular audits of KANBAN accuracy, including sizing, placement, and replenishment processes to maintain lean inventory principles and minimize shortages or overages.
- Analyze inventory levels across production areas, warehouse stock, and in-process materials; investigate root causes of variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Serve as a liaison between warehouse, production, and engineering teams to resolve material-related issues, coordinate changes to BOMs or Work Orders, and ensure alignment on material requirements.
- Review and reconcile production orders against actual material usage, documenting findings and collaborating with stakeholders to update records in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) or ERP.
- Conduct cycle counts, physical inventories, and data reconciliations to maintain high levels of inventory accuracy and compliance with FIFO, lean principles, and company standards.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, variance tracking, and generating actionable insights from inventory and production data.
- Look up part information, analyze material usage trends, and support updates to part locations, labels, and system records using WMS/ERP tools (experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is highly preferred).
- Monitor shortages, overages, and potential production impacts; proactively communicate with procurement, production supervisors, and engineering to prevent downtime.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies in material processes, KANBAN systems, and BOM accuracy, and propose process optimizations to reduce waste.
- Collaborate with internal departments (procurement, quality control, production, and engineering) to implement BOM revisions, Work Order corrections, and inventory adjustments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of audits, findings, and resolutions while adhering to company policies and industry best practices.

- Adhere to warehouse and production floor safety rules and support a clean, organized work environment.

Position Qualifications and Entrance Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, production, inventory control, or logistics; automotive parts experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel for data analysis, pivot tables, and reporting.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and/or ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Familiarity with Bills of Materials (BOMs), Work Orders, KANBAN systems, cycle counting, and lean inventory practices.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively across departments.
- Able to pass any required assessments or background checks.
- Candidates must successfully complete criminal and motor vehicle background checks and preemployment drug screening.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Able to function capably in a production and warehouse environment using standard equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform light physical tasks as needed (walking, standing, reaching, etc.).
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, split time between office/data analysis and production/warehouse floor activities.
- Must be able to work inside and outside throughout the year, in varied weather conditions when accessing storage or production areas.
- Participate in required company safety programs, training, and PPE guidelines, including adherence to OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
